Guests from the European Man-Made Fibre Industry (CIRFS) and the Spanish chemical industry (FEIQUE) were invited, too. So, together with company representatives belonging to EUCTL through its member Associations, more than 50 participants attended the hybrid event – mainly in-person as well as online.

Discussions focused on increasing regulatory complexity, including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), and the growing pressure on European industry from global competition, rising costs, and geopolitical uncertainty. While the sector remains strongly committed to advancing sustainability and chemical safety, it emphasized the urgent need for aligned legislation, realistic timelines, and fair market conditions.

Participants highlighted the importance of ensuring a level playing field, particularly regarding imports that are not subject to equivalent controls. EUCTL called for structural improvements to strengthen competitiveness and support the resilience of European textile and leather value chains.
